Luminos: Life, interactive

Bidirectional microscopy for neuroscience and drug discovery

Dynamic and Interactive Microscopy

Luminos' bidirectional microscopy platform enables dynamic and interactive microscopy.  Multi-wavelength patterned illumination allows targeted optogenetics, photochemistry, and structured illumination microscopy.  High-speed and high-sensitivity fluorescence microscopy probes sample dynamics with millisecond time-resolution over a large field of view.  Together, these tools open a two-way conversation between the researcher and the sample.

High-Speed Imaging

The Luminos imaging platform offers the highest combination of sensitivity, speed, and field of view of any microscope.  These capabilities enable simultaneous voltage imaging from thousands of neurons, cardiomyocytes, or other excitable cells.

Dynamically Patterned Illumination

Luminos microscopes have >4M individually controlled optical stimulus points, each updated at > 10 kHz.  Simultaneous patterning of multiple wavelengths allows targeted photochemistry, optogenetics, or structured illumination microscopy.

Optically Responsive Life

Luminos provides a full suite of optogenetically engineered life forms, including transgenic mice, engineered hiPSCs, and stable cell lines; as well as viral vectors, plasmids, and chemical reagents.

Intuitive and Powerful Software

The Luminos instrument control software synchronizes all aspects of the experiment and enables adaptive experimental designs where the stimuli automatically respond to the sample features.

Example applications

Biological Signaling Analysis

Luminos tools facilitate sub-cellular to tissue-scale mapping of biological signaling cascades.  These measures are useful in studying nervous system function, embryonic development, cancer, and wound healing.

Genotype-Phenotype Relations

Luminos' proprietary targeted photochemical labeling products enable optical pooled screens for protein engineering and the determination of genotype-phenotype relations.  These capabilities have applications ranging from basic research to drug discovery and development.
